2011 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®

The 2011 theme is “His heart, His hands, His voice – I am Southern Baptist missions.” It reminds us that as followers of Jesus, we – the Church – are called to be the body of Christ. We are His heart, His hands and His voice in the midst of a world filled with unreached peoples. We are part of the task to fulfill the Great Commission. And although we Southern Baptists have been praying, giving and going for 160 years, the task is far from finished.

His heart, His hands, His voice – through praying

Jesus commissioned us to be His heart, His hands, His voice – and one of the ways we can do that is through prayer. In fact, prayer is first and foremost!  Pray with God’s heart for people groups who have never heard the Good News. (Would our church even consider adopting a people group to pray for?) Pray for our missionaries who are our voice in the darkness. And pray about giving as much as you can to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® to sustain those we’ve sent to be our hands touching a lost world.

[Missions leader, learn more about how your church can adopt to pray.]

His heart, His hands, His voice – through giving

Paul says, “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27). Southern Baptist missionaries can’t carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth without our support. How much will you give to reach the remaining lost? Think about what you are spending on Christmas gifts. Then consider giving your biggest gift to God – through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.® The 2011 goal is $175 million. Our church’s goal is ____.

His heart, His hands, His voice through going

Even though Southern Baptists have been praying, giving and going for more than 160 years, billions of people remain lost! Time may be running out for them. The church was given the Great Commission, and we must take responsibility for helping reach the unreached people groups of the world. Would our church consider partnering with missionaries to reach the unreached – or even engaging one of the 3,800 people groups that missionaries may never be able to get to?
